If you must use McAfee software and running the McAfee Consumer Products Removal Tool does not manage to delete this registry key and clear the way to do the install, you probably need to take ownership of the key (that's a guess, because It's a disgrace that such a huge multi national company can have such appalling processes and customer service.Perhaps this should suggest to you that you should use something other than McAfee software on your computer. So surely they must be able to tell that it isn't installed anywhere and hasn't been for two years? I'll await the refund but if it doesn't come through I'll have no choice but to take this further. When I actually used the product, they were quick to tell me that I couldn't download it to another device because I had reached the number of licences I was allowed. I really think this company should be investigated by the Financial Conduct Authority because their cavalier attitude to protecting my personal financial details is shocking. Sadly I have little confidence that this will actually happen because the promised confirmatory email hasn't arrived. However, it wasn't until I got through to a supervisor that I managed to get an assurance that I would get a refund. This time at least I managed to speak to a human who said she would turn off the auto renewal that I had already turned off.

They have again breached UK financial law by failing to advise me that they intend taking money from my account. Well, a year has passed since my last review of McAfee and once again they are taking money from my credit card for a product that I don't have.

I'm happy with the software, at Argos's price, but their attempts to obtain more money for solving a problem which did not exist amounts to fraud.ĭo NOT give this firm your financial details! I then installed the new McAfee without any problems and without paying £99.99. I checked through the Apps on my computer and removed a couple which were out of date and another which I never use and cleaned the computer using my installed McAfee.

The installation failed and I was advised to contact McAfee which I did, after a long phone call I was told that I had an App on my computer which was preventing the new version of McAfee from installing and that to enable the install I needed to purchase another App which would resolve the problem, this would if purchased from McAfee cost £99.99 and included two further years of McAfee protection. Today I tried to install the latest copy using the information supplied on the product. I have used McAfee for several years purchasing it in each year from Argos, generally around £10.
